The time has come to replace my rear door. It's rusted all the way through and causing a rust stain on my stainless steel runners
Has anyone had experience with replacing the rear door? Any idea on part numbers and what it actually comes with? I have a 1999 TD5 but I think the puma door will fit. I was afraid that was the case... I wonder if I can save the electrics and the glass? The latch etc is all new already. If that's the case I would just need the trim and to paint the door.

If you bought a new TD5 spec door then you could reuse everthing.
However the Puma door uses a completely different glass, so you would need a new glass. The Wiper motor etc would 'probably' be the same but i'm not 100% sure. The puma door is a worthwhile upgrade, as the older doors are made in two peices, they were pretty rot prone. Buying a second hand Puma door with everything attached and having it refurbished is probably a good option. |

Pretty much nothing swaps over from a Td5 door to the Puma. Wiper motor, glass, hi level brake light, door card, all different.
There is no comparison between the older Td5 door and the Puma. The strength of the stamped frame is far superior, (but it's still best to run a tire carrier to avoid excessive wear on the hinges). No galvanic corrosion between the skin and frame, much more modern and solid doorcard, and a window seal that doesn't look like it came from a meccano set. Either way, you'll be in for paint, so it would be a good time to look for anything else bolt on that may need a refresh. Could be a good time to upgrade door hinges if they are rusty, paint them all together with the door. it's a Landrover thing... my renovation thread: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic40792.html |

I have no experience of the rear door equivalent, but I've recently fitted SP4x4's galvanised frame, steel skinned front & 2nd row doors to my Td5 DCPU. I was impressed with the quality and fit so I'd expect the rear door to be just as good.

I am going to take a look into their products.
