1989 Defender 90 300 Tdi HT Cairns Blue
300tdi magnetic sump plug
Could I heck find a cheap one anywhere!!
So...

With the help of this old girl

Araldited it into the plug, let set a day, and tested on a 5KG weight to see if it budges, and is doesnt.

Works a treat. Sadly looking forwards to my next oil change !! Ha Ha

Word of caution though. Be careful, and read up on machining rare earth magnets. They are nasty things to turn down. As I found out (and then carried out some online research!!)

Me too!!!

Shouldn't though, Araldite is pretty good stuff, and when I machined it, I made sure there was enough gap between the magnet and the plug to fill with a thin layer of the stuff.
I'll be the first to eat my words though!!!!
