Thank you to everyone who's taken the time to reply, really appreciate it!
The Defender is a daily driver, shortly after buying it I had thought of buying a Series One (when they were still going for sensible prices) but I ended up buying a classic van for weekend fun and taking to the shows instead. The general feeling is that I should keep it, at least for now (though I guess that's what you'd expect to hear on a Defender forum), so having 'asked the audience' I think that's what I'll do and let's see what happens. There is talk of introducing a charge (£12) for diesel vehicles commuting to some of our bigger cities (I commute from Wakefield to Leeds every day) so if it looks as though it may actually happen that might be the time to think of buying something else - but of course there's been a few dramatic 'U' turns recently! Cheers! |

Hello all,
Just a quick update to this thread I started nearly 4 years ago, I still have the Defender and yesterday we passed the 100,000 miles mark! The advice I received on here was perfect, there's been no issues since my last post except for a clunk in the transmission which was gradually getting worse, so the good people at Four Plus 4 replaced the half shafts for solid ones this last summer, and it drives so much better now. A special "thank you" to defender9, you recommended that mod some time ago. I couldn't let the occasion pass without decorating a cake, so I'd like to share a virtual slice with everyone. Thanks again for your advice, best wishes to you all. Tony Click image to enlarge |
