I saw the meme Shaggydog it is quite apposite. The article Scotm is interesting and balanced I thought. I see that FM Sturgeon is betting that the deal the UK is heading to in 2019 is not good enough and that a majority of Scots will vote for another roll of the dice outside the union(s).
From her political back ground it is a rational choice to make. And the performance of the UK government so far may yet prove it to be a canny one. 1995 Defender 110 CSW

Scottish independence: Referendum demand 'will be rejected

Theresa May has said her message to Ms Sturgeon was clear - 'now is not the time'.

I suppose that for Nicola Sturgeon it’s not the Fan-dabi-dozi moment she hoped for. Whistle For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

The feeling from everyone I have spoken to since Nicola's statement is: oh no, here we go again.

Sturgeon appears entirely rational to me. I have respect for her as an effective politician. Scotland will face challenges with independence, but they will be nothing like those the rest of the UK have coming over the next few years. Fact is, Brexit was the greatest geopolitical debacle since the war.

The Scots are better off out.

I do not understand the fixation with free trade with europe. £11Bn trade with EU and, i think £80Bn trade with rest of the UK.

If UK leaves europe and Scotland somehow manages to stay, then there will be tariffs on the £80Bn, but thats Ok as the £11Bn trade with the EU will be tariff free. Just then have to pay for the External EU border (with England) and the EU membership fee!

How is that a good deal? 80" 1948

Are Shetland and Orkney still talking about leaving Scotland so they can stay in the UK?

[quote=. Fact is, Brexit was the greatest geopolitical debacle since the war.[/quote]

And the greatest "geopolitical debacle" before that, was when Churchill said in 1940 "We will fight them on the beaches etc..."

What an idiot!

Didn't he realise the disastrous effect it would have on employment, industry, GDP, freedom of movement etc?

And that it would put us at odds with the rest of Europe for years?

He should have done a deal to remain with Hitler and thus end the "uncertainty" and keep us wealthy, instead of totally bankrupting the UK.

So what was it that made him sacrifice all that - simply for "freedom"?

Answer that, and you will discover that the 52% knew exactly what they were voting for on 23 June 2016.

Actually, Churchill wanted a more integrated Europe after the war.
In addition to which, I hardly think it's reasonable to compare freedom from the Nazis with freedom from the EU!
