John Surtees
Sorry to hear that John Surtees has passed away.
A motorsport legend who could get the best out of anything with an engine in it , from a time when you rode or drove in different disciplines.
World champion on motorcycle and formula one car , a real gentleman as well. Met him at Goodwood a few years back when he signed a photo of him that my other half took the year before. Was no trouble at all and he spoke to us as though he had known us all his life.
Will be greatly missed.

Nick

Very sad. I did'nt see him race but met him a few yrs ago, at Donington, when he was doing some laps in a W196 M-B, a thoroughly likeable, humble, modest and helpful man. I wonder if anyone else will ever make the switch from bikes to cars and win both crowns?

Sad indeed. World Champ on bikes and in a car, no mean feat. I've seen him demonstrate cars and bikes at a few events, always seemed a very approachable guy too. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Despite repeated calls for him to be knighted - it was never done.
He was pretty unique in what he did.

Met him a couple of times whilst working for a race team,
Proper bloke, liked a chat and seemed interested in what was going on,

I don't think I sill see his recorded matched, but if it ever would be , I'm sure he would of been the first to shake the guys hand Thumbs Up

God bless him
