Wipac Quad Optics
A question for you.

Was looking at the headlights yesterday and noticed that ours has Wipac Quad Optics. Are those the standard headlamps or does it sound like it's had an upgrade?

The bezels do look a little rusty (although you can't really see them because of the KBX grille). 2015 Audi Q3 Quattro S Line Plus 184 TDI Stronic

They’re standard and exactly the same as on my other piece of crap, a classic Morgan. Osram Nightbreaker bulbs make a (marginal) difference, stainless rims WILL be necessary sooner or later, no point in not fitting them now.

Best thing to do is upgrade them to Wipac Crystals with Nightbreaker bulbs.

I did a write up here on mine

http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic24287.html

I wanted better headlight output and this simple upgrade gave me exactly what I wanted without the enormous expense of Led headlamps which is the other route you can go down.

Paired with a Loom upgrade this will make a huge difference to your headlights Thumbs Up Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

I'm in the wrong business !

http://www.paddockspares.com/pm678-wipac-c...ralia.html

Or from Alive tuning, or Bolt on Bits.

Decent bulbs will probably be £15 to £20.

I have a pair I have just replaced with LED headlights if you want to try some to see what they are like Thumbs Up

Glad it's not me then!

Their DRL Bumper, which looks no different to our Flatdog one is over £400.00

I know a business needs to make a profit, but good grief!

Bob thank you for the fab offer and I would certainly take you up on it. You must PM me and let me know where in Somerset you are. 2015 Audi Q3 Quattro S Line Plus 184 TDI Stronic

LOL yes I thought £50 but wasn't sure if that figure would include new Bezels.

Mind you I think there is one advertiser on here (haven't seen them post though) who is very very pricey as well. 2015 Audi Q3 Quattro S Line Plus 184 TDI Stronic

I'm looking at this upgrade - whats the story with the bowls sold with these crystals?

http://r.ebay.com/Zd0sRD

Do the bowls offer better weather protection?

Is this what I want for a 2010 Utility XS upgrade? Proud owner 110 Utility XS

the complete bowls as in the link are more for classic minis or other cars (series L/rovers ) where the back of the light is open to elements and road spray from under wing

all you need are the lenses to convert like this eBay item number:

I'm thinking of getting rid of the standard LR lights and going down the Wipac Crystal + Osram Nightbreaker road...

Can anyone please explain to me:

1. How necessary is it to change the loom for those lights?
2. How easy/hard is replacing the wiring loom?
3. Where/who to order it from?

Cheers! Thumbs Up

^^^^ No wiring changes needed, however take it to a MOT station or garage straight after fitting new Crystals and rings as the beam will no doubt be out of adjustment.
Mine was and I never even could tell until MOT time which they simply adjusted FOC and passed straight away.
None the less I would do it anyway unless you are lucky enough to have the facility or a mate able to do it for you or yourself. Only cost a tenner no doubt.

On mine I've got Crystals with stainless rings and Philips extreme H4 bulbs very pleased indeed.

Bulbs from eBay, around £22 ish then, rings from BoB(should have bought SS fixings but you couldn't at the time I got mine!)
Crystals from Paddocks.

Thumbs Up
