attaching/detatching an awning
Hi all - considering buying an awning to attach to roof bars (yet to be purchased) on my 90 for weekend overnight camping purposes.
Could anyone with experience please advise whether it is a quick job to attach and detatch the awning to roof bars - i.e. is it practical to attach on a Sat morning and then detatch on the Sunday (single handedly), so I am not driving vehicle about all week with the awning attached.
A quick release mechanism would make this feasible...does this exist?

Many thanks in advance.

The Rhino Rack Foxwing, Eco Foxwing, Sunseeker awning fit onto the Rhino Rack roof bars via a unistrut nut which slides into the roof bar.

Using this system it will only be a few minutes to mount and demount the awning.

May well work with other awnings as well.

If you want more information give me a ring on 07929 604668

The answer to this really depends on the type of awning and roof bars that you want. At its' most basic though, you could attach one to the other with just a couple of bolts. You might need to drill suitable holes in the roof bar legs, or maybe make up some brackets to adapt existing fixing points, but none of it will be complicated. Attaching and removing would then be no more involved than two minutes with a suitable spanner. Darren

It's not very "overland" but it's hard to beat a popup garden gazebo. Larger footprint. Setting up and taking down is faster than an awning. You don't have to worry about mounting it to the car. I have been using one for a couple of years now and it's just way better than an awning. (Yea, I've tried awning)
