The BBC could for instance treat TG like Have I got news for you - guest presenters each week. I would love to see Jo Brand or Tim Wonnacott from Bargain Hunt presenting ! It would make things fun. The show has veered so far from motoring towards high budget entertainment anyway that presenters not knowing SFA about cars wouldn't be a disadvantage.

Matt LB will probably be OK. It will take a while though. Does anyone remember Clarkson's first Chat show about 20 years ago ?. He was very stilted and restrained at first but soon got cheeky.

It has potential, I will let it grow some more and see if I am right. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

William Woolard!
Why do we need a colonial presenting our Top Gear anyway? They've got their own, or wasn't he good enough for that one????

I watch for for the cars not the people, however I did find it fine.

I like the Evo guy and if they get Sabine on it will be good Smile

TG pretty awful I thought, but not as bloody awful as that new ITV late show at 10 o’clock at night, Jesus even the addverts in the add break was more entertaining than the show. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

I thought it was ok.

It felt less stilted and scripted to me and more about the cars than the presenters. Some bits better than others and I think we have to treat it like a new show - give the format and the chemistry time.

I'm glad I haven't got amazon prime - the grand tour seems entirely scripted and utterly juvenile and only barely about cars. It's total ship in my opinion.

I preferred the Wollard version. It was more focused on cars and not the presenters. Hav'nt watched it since the old half hour programmes. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

^^^I tend to agree with this to a certain extent. The recent version of TG had little to do with motoring issues or cars and vehicles that the vast majority of people use and need for their daily lives. The original programme may have been beige and appear boring to today's yoof but it was informative and useful, not just a handful of overpaid tw@t's chucking expensive steel around a track to provide the production crew with pretty slo mo's of burning rubber and the weather. It becomes dull as dishwater after a time.

I can't believe that people actually stand in a hangar watching the presentation stuff, they are only there as props but seem just so chuffed to get their gawking mugs on the telly behind the great ones. Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades.
Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW.

[Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc]

I know what you mean, but if you want reviews of cars, the internet is full of them - many very good.
Chris Harris and Rory made their mark on YouTube doing in-depth/entertaining reviews.

I think Top Gear only became world-famous when it was less about the cars and more about the entertainment, so no surprise the format is continuing.

This will remind those of us of a certain age of Top of the Pops from the seventies and eighties. Plenty of female camera 'props' used to make the presenter DJ's look like they were charmers. Unfortunately, history has shown us that some of these DJ's seemed to take advantage of this situation*.

*Not that I am implying that any presenters past or present on TG have done anything wrong - apart from wear Jeans and a suit jacket together perhaps?

I sat down and watched it last night, as said before, it's not really a motoring programme for everyday vehicle users more like a chat show.
As to the comment about the audience being there as "eye candy" was to my eye pushing it a bit far Whistle
I'll leave it there Wink
