Isn't the JD Power results based on cars a few years old? If so, the Defender may still be contributing to LRs score... 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

A couple of my friends work across Jaguar and Land Rover and it does seem to ring true.
The Discovery engine seems to like blowing up in a discovery but in a Jag because its got much less to do it seems to be far more reliable. At one point my friend had a line of 8 Discoveries all in for bottom end engine rebuilds but hadn't seen the issue in the same engine but in a Jag. Also lost of problems with Land Rover Differentials compared to hardly any for jags. Just off the top of my head but may explain it.
