I'd live with it for now, keep an eye on engine temp and coolant loss.
Then go for a proper fix, avoid using additives to seal it. I was recommended to fix rather that use a temp seal when I had coolant leak issues and I'm glad I did. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |

Thanks Steve, will start getting a list of bits to get.
I have read somewhere that the removal can strip the alloy head thread if it is removed, som put a strong epoxy around exposed threads and screw it back up, hate to make it worse by wrecking the head. |

I would get further advice on that, and go from there. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️

I had this problem on my Disco 2, the bung that's behind the manifold is threaded, I did the head gasket on it, and I'm sure I wrapped some PTFE tape around the threads to seal it?
It was a few years ago, but quite a straightforward fix, if that's where it's defenetly coming from? 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

Thanks Ian, I am 90% sure but until I strip down the manifold side won't be sure.
The Pte tape is a good clean idea, thanks. |

Do not use any type of sealer ! My Fathers Td5 Discovery had this leak when he purchased it the last owner must had been using rad weld or something similar. And we have had problems ever since, water leaks, heater not getting hot etc.
We have changed the radiator water pump, hoses etc. On Saturday I was replacing the 'o' rings on the heat exchanger and found one of the pipes completely blocked! That's made it clear no additives and a summer strip down, should not get too Leakey as the plug leak is only a large table spoon each drive.

My Disco2 has been doing that for more than a decade. Keep the coolant topped up and it'll be OK until you can fix it.

That brown gunge in the coolant system looks like a tell-tale symptom of someone topping up the OAT coolant with the normal etylene glycol stuff. Turns to brown sludge.
I would never use radweld or other similar products though. They do make a real mess of the coolant systen and block heater matrices and thermostats. Either live with the leak or fix it properly. Steve 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread |

Will get a full flush this summer when I sort this plug out, definitely not going down the rad weld path.

I cannot tell you how glad I was that I flushed the coolant system on my TD5 properly. What an amazing difference to the heater output (hot to volcanic). This was 5 years ago now and everything (coolant-wise) is still working beautifully.
I think all in all it took a good morning of getting drenched. But worth it. Noticed that the Rad is looking a little tired now, so expect that a new one will be in order this summer and a re-flush as well. |

Am I correct in thinking to flush the system it's just a gravity fed flush though?
Pretty sure there shouldn't be any pressure used. Is that correct? ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |
