I had to fit spacers on my 1985 90.
The turning circle is now epic! |

OEM boosts will not fit a 1985 Defender with rear drum brakes without modification also the front hubs on older models can be bigger and so stick out of the center on alloys. . However the majority of aftermarket alloys will fit early 90's and 110's but they are a rare find these days, asks Craddocks or Paddocks to see if they still stock them.
If you change your mind about Boosts I have a five take off Freestyle Alloy wheels (the type you find on the 50th anniversary edition) in perfect condition with 235 85 16 Goodyear Wranglers fitted one brand new (spare) the others with loads of tread left. These wheels will definitely fit your year model. PM if interested and I will send a photo. So are you saying your 1985 fits boost alloys and the hub caps as well? Just with the addition of 30mm sparcers? |

Yes, the end caps fit fine.
Rear drums replaced by disks beforehand. |

Is that a big job in changing from drums to disks?

Easier to fit a good later second hand complete axle in my opinion, probably cheaper too, loads about even off a disco… For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

sorry to hijack but... Do you still have these wheels? I may be interested as I'm running 205's on rostyles on my '93 200tdi and apart from looking lost in the arches the gearing isn't good for higher speeds. I have discs all round. |
