MD ENGINEERING do the conversion with a 722.6ZF five speed, they must get their engines from somewhere!👍

yep, that's a Merc unit, more commonly known as the 5G-Tronic: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Ben...ansmission
but why don't they just use the 6-speed auto from the Ford Ranger? -- 2010 Defender Puma 90 + BAS remap + Alive IC + Slickshift + Ashcroft ATB rear 2015 Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharged Defender Puma Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zZ1en9 Discovery 4 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zXrtKO Range Rover/Sport L320/L322/L494 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zc58JQ |

Does anybody know of any developments in getting the ranger engine to work in a defender. My 2.4 has covered 190000 miles mostly towing and is getting tired. The 3.2 has always seemed attractive but spending over £15k isnt.

Do you know anything about this ECU? https://www.bodylogicuk.com/index.php/9/ Would it be any good for the Ford? They have turn key packages for the LR V6 and some others. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS |

Based on this photo, the alternator seems WAY higher up which will definitely help increase wading depth. I don't think I saw an AC compressor though as the spot where the alternator is is where the AC compressor should be. Being deployed in the Far East at the moment, AC is a MUST! While we're on the topic of a raised alternator, is it possible to make up a kit to relocate the alternator higher up in the engine bay of a 2.4 Puma? |

@big steve I'm based in Dubai. My 2.2 D110 (bas remap, bigger intercooler, straight exhauht) does about 170hp and 400Nm. Good enough for everything but not for playing on the big desert dunes. Plenty of LS swaps around but not interested in petrol or diesle swaps other than the 3.2 puma. My question is can the transit engine be tuned to "reliably" deliver over 250hp and 600Nm need in the extreme weather and desert dunes offroading? Does it require a bigger turbo? Better cooling? Upgrades to gearbox and axles?

No I disregarded the 3.2 swap as it seems problematic .. looking at m57 engine swap instead (bmw 3.0 turbo diesle swap)
