That new car smell...
Never owned a Defender from new, so what, if anything, was their new car smell like?

As it stands mine smells like a pot pourri of different cleaners, sealants, oils, paints and solvents ...

I'm used to it, but passengers say 'it smells like a car that's being worked on' - which it is, almost perpetually.

Hhow do you get it fresh again? Or at least neutral? Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

Mine does not have the carpets so has a sort of rubber / plastic smell. It has done since I got it, albeit it wasn't new but 14 months old. It has kept this rubbery smell in the last two years even though I move wet Labradors around and they tell me I'm not pleasant to be around after a good curry Embarassed

I have tried all different air fresheners to change the aroma but it still has that same old rubber / plastic smell.
I suppose it would be great if you are in to that kind of thing? Pass me my gimp mask Snigger

New genuine foot well matts with the Defender branding changed the smell for a while, but it was more like 'recent chemical-based manufacturing process' combined with all the solvents I already listed above.

Will try wet dog:

And maybe 'new dog smell' is worth a try too??

Mine has a lovely gentle aroma of old leather, damp, plastic and diesel. When I say gentle, I mean gentle - there's so much air inside a 110 and so many gaps for it to circulate that it doesn't really hold any smell at all.
