That's an odd looking plinth

Take the bolts out and redrill the plinth holes to match up with the existing clips then either take the plastic clips out of the panel and use the bolts or use screws into the existing plastic clips. Ray

Seems the bolts are sunk into the plastic not as easy as just removing? as below
![]() Click image to enlarge Could I hammer them out? or vice grip and twist? Or should I just give these up and get these ones that should fit? http://www.mudstuff.co.uk/defender-95mm-nas-plinth.html ![]() |

Also I've just noticed the plinths you have don't have any seals on the back so they will probably let lots of water in. Ray

Hello
I'm certain they are NOT oem, but I never bought them thinking they were, so no issue with that. I've just had a go with mole grips and pliers and got the two bolts out... ![]() If I make a seal at the back or reuse the seals off my old lights do you think these are still usable or just get those other ones? These came from this web site? bowers parts? http://www.bowerspartsonline.co.uk/vehicle...over-parts Thanks |

Buy some neoprene rubber or foam off eBay on a sheet, cut to size. Good seal and cost peanuts.
Your LED lights are waterproof anyway as a unit, the plinth is just a mount. ![]() β½οΈπ’οΈβοΈπ§°πͺ |

They are cheap and very cheap dare I say nasty without getting slapped?
They are 95 mm plinths that are designed for other vehicles apart from Land Rover Defenders. The correct OEM ones just screw from the outside onto the vehicle. No need to drill holes for the fixing studs, no need to grovel up on the inside of the vehicle to put a nut on. Which would be impossible if you have a wing tank fitted. With the correct OEM plinth the connectors just pass through the hole in the middle of the plinth. With that plinth you will either have to drill out the centre of the plinth or mess around with the connectors. My advice would be to buy the correct Defender NAS plinth. Please note on the sellers website those plinths are described as NAS style not NAS specification Brendan |

Brendan...
Your right, NAS style not NAS specification is the key.. hence the gaps are not correct. My Bad for not spotting that. As far as Quality, the plastic I'm sure is no different to the £10 ones? its just a mold? I will see how I go at adapting one of these, if it goes pear shaped then I will take your advice ![]() The lights fitting into these are sealed as Steve said, so it is just in affect a big plastic washer to hold them? |

Sorry Stacey but it is not a simple case that it is the same plastic as the more expensive ones
The chances are it is an injection moulding however just because it is claimed to be the same plastic does not mean that it is the same grade or quality. The more expensive ones are ( yes am surmising from a previous life ![]() Have a look at www.dont-get-burnt.com which is a comparison of material from the Australian Safari Snorkels and some of their copies. In a previous existence we had to tell a company after some research that failure in their products could be simply overcome. Our advice was quite simple after 2 months testing. Conclusion was to ignore the accountants, buy a decent grade of polymer with known products and use a good injection moulding company. Brendan |

Hello
Decided over the evening and sleeping in it to return these, Brendan's and others comments, I plan on keeping this truck so don't to be drilling new holes, making up gaskets and doing a botch job. These were cheap compared to actually NAS lights but not what I call Cheap Cheap (£170 order) So I e-mailed the company last night and this moring, an de-mail saying please return them for a full refund no quibble. Happy all round (except I will have to wait longer to have LED rear lights now) ![]() Thanks for the Advice Brendan and others, your knowledge is ![]() |
