200TDI Lack of power and cutting out | |
On my way to work this morning my Defender 90 with Disco 200tdi fitted started to dramatically lose power (to the point that I was crawling along in first gear), and then cut out, just as I managed to dump it on the verge.
The lift pump is new (couple of months ago), but the AA man suggested that the fuel filter could be gunked up because of the cold weather. He followed me home, still struggling with power and had to take first gear for even the gentle hills.
Any other ideas of what it could be please?
And in true Land Rover style, I had two other Defenders pull up for me to see if they could be of any help, so I'm grateful for your help to get me off the verge into a car park.

Wouldn't have thought it was cold enough for Diesel to wax up, think it was approximately -1C, but fuel filter should be warmer in the engine bay?
I changed the fuel filter this afternoon, and on the test run it seemed to be back to normal, so hopefully I will be able to consider it as an easy fix!
