Cheviot 4x4 Winch Event - Sunday 21st Sept | |
Thought I would post this for spectators only as the event is full.
Russell.
Cheviot 4x4 in association with North East 4x4 are holding a novice challenge event at Herrington Woods, Co Durham. It is a one day event held on Sunday the 21st September 2008, the event is set in two disused and now wooded quarries.
The Challenge is aimed at teams of two vehicles who are either new to the challenge scene or who have limited experience with a minimum of one winch per team. Teams must consist of two vehicles with a driver and a co-driver per vehicle. Although it's a competition the emphasis is more on enjoying yourself and getting a buzz out of a form of off roading we have come to love.
The event will consist of a number of punches placed around the site as well as possibly a few special stages thrown in for good measure. The sections/punches will be either easy to find or indicated on a map at the start of the event. Each punch will be identified by an individual number which will correspond to the punch card which will be attached to each vehicle. This is where the visited punches will be collected, consequently the vehicle must get close enough to the punch to mark the card without removing either the card from the vehicle or the punches from their location.
Punches may be given varying value depending on the degree of difficulty. Special Stages may be on a time limit and points awarded according to the time taken. Each task will be monitored by a Marshal who will issue any instructions and record the results.
Cost per vehicle is £45 this includes the event fees and hot tea and coffee during the event. Prizes will be awarded for the highest score in each class as well as some spot prizes. Camping is available on the Saturday night for £5 payable on the night to the land owner. The driver of each vehicle must be a member of North East 4x4 for insurance purposes, we have negotiated a special day membership for £5 if you require this then tick the box on the entry form and include the fee in with the entry fee.
If anyone does not have another team member submit your entry and we'll match you up.
Classes
A class system will be used as follows
Standard: Each vehicle needs to be equipped with a maximum of one traction aid per vehicle e.g. a winch or a locking diff. With at least one winch per team. I.e. one vehicle is to have a winch the other can have either a winch or a locker but not both.If you have more aids than this class allows then you may disable them (proof required) to run in this class.
Modified: Vehicles may be equipped with two or more of the following: Winches front & rear, Front and/or rear diff locks, Tyres larger than 33” or equivalent, as measured with a tape measure
All vehicles must have current MOT test certificate, in addition all vehicles will be scrutineered before the event. They must also conform to the technical regulations and be in a good condition.
