Dakar
Its that time of year again. A little annoyed with myself this year as I have it bit going on at the moment and forgot it was starting, so it was the seventh stage today Big Cry coverage on Eurosport at 10ish o'clock each night. Ray

As well as the scenery. Stunning. The Eurosport commentator makes me laugh too.

I used to watch it "religiously" but I think it's lost a lot of it's appeal since they moved to South America. the first year was OK but each year they seem to cover less distance and fewer countries, to the point that it's slowly heading towards a single country rally.

The lack of any action against the "Mini" team for fixing the result a couple of years ago pretty much killed any remaining enthusiasm I had for the event. It seems pointless to have a race where one team fields so many competitive cars and decides who will win before the event even starts. That was the last year I watched the full thing as I think it devalued the whole event. Had the organisers had any balls they'd have penalised the whole team for bringing the event into disrepute. They've been quick enough in the past to penalise individuals without any evidence (tyre gate, for example !). http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/

I couldn't miss it for any reason as it reminds me of my late brother. Ray
