Following a Freedom of information request:
The following were recorded as the 10 highest numbers of models stolen: VW Golf 37 Ford Focus 28 Ford Transit (all types) 27 Land Rover Defender 26 Vauxhall Corsa 22 BMW 3 Series 21 Vauxhall Astra 17 Ford Fiesta 17 Audi A3 13 Peugeot 206 12 Given the relative numbers of each model, it must push the Defender higher up the list if you were to factor this in. http://www.gloucestershirelive.co.uk/xmas-...story.html |

Gloucester has a high number of LR per capita. Considering the top 5 are also make + model combinations that have been about for years it is not surprising Defenders have been about for 33 years so lots about. The '80s and '90s cars by all manufacturers were known to have weaknesses in the security systems.
Recently we had a 90 disappear nearby to me while some chaps were in the local pub. It was farm condition. Found in a field burnt out. I did hear the keys were in it, left unlocked.  |
