Steering wheel choices
So, I fancy a steering wheel to bolt onto the snap-off purchased on here a time ago when there was a group buy on the go. Having had a look, there are obviously dozens of different types on the go. The Momo is a popular choice, but when you look at them the prices vary considerably. So my question to the steering wheel experts is this - what makes a 'good' steering wheel and is this reflected in the price? I would have thought that one Momo would be as 'good' and well engineered as another, so is the pricing down to what people will pay for different styles, perceived good looks etc?
One that has caught my eye is the Momo Tuner. This is towards the lower end of the Momo price scale, so what is it that makes others in the range £40,£50,£100 more? Are these wheels better engineered, will they last better, are they using more expensive materials or as I said earlier, is it supply and demand - someone thinks they look better and can command a higher price? I honestly don't know and am all ears waiting to learn.
Whilst looking at wheels, I have obviously seen the StarTech to be a popular choice, then someone says it's a Raid 10 in fancy clothes? If so, is the Raid going to be as comfy a wheel to use, thus saving £££ over the expensive Startech? Does the Raid have the same bolt pattern as the Momo which is on the Snap-off? I know it's all down to personal choice and if there was a steering wheel supermarket near me then I could go and try before I buy, but there ain't so my best course of action is to see what you think out there in Def2 land. Cheers for any constructive input.

I like my Momo trec R wheel (as seen to the right on my Avatar) Leather with a flat bottom it has a nice feel to it, it's a decent thickness and reminds me of driving my RS4 Thumbs Up (just a shame it wasn't heated!! Laughing ) 2010 Defender 90 HT

The longer I live..... The better I was!

Hello

Its down to what you like I'm not keen on the chrome / metal on some of the Momo wheels but that might suit the 'look' your going for.

I think the startech suits the Defender interior, understated and functional. I don't know how the other makes feel but I love this, feels lovely to hold and so so so so much nicer than the bus wheel it replaced.

Well I went through what you are going through and the more I read the more I knew that mota lita was the steering wheel for me......my hardest choice was to chose between 14in or 15in.

After a very long thought and research and a phone call to MUD I decided for a 15in and I am very happy.

It fits well the defender , a bit smaller than original and big enough for the truck like driving of the defender, off course maintaining the retro look of the defender.

The material used, the fantastic grip, the construction is so well done.....it shows ( very solid)

Stacey007, yes I've heard many compliments about the Startech, but it's at the 'ouch' end of my price scale. As mentioned, it's supposed to be the same as the Raid 10 (but re-covered) which is a lot better in terms of price. Can anyone confirm this?

sherifsalem, I had a look at your blog, very nice. The Moto Lita looks good fitted, plus it's British which I would be delighted to go with, but it has a different bolt pattern to the snap-off which I want to use. I want to be able to remove the steering wheel as another layer of security.
