Installed and welded, but my mate wants to go back at it again, as there is still some more areas to sort out. Light was against us sadly. I will have to rust protect under there for the time been so all is ok.

The rust area on the cross member is a hole brewing, if I went at that hard enough with my finger it would go through!! Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Its miles better to drive now, not much body roll. If I had a good set of dampers and springs on this, I recon it will tripod! Might be a good idea that
Going to have to wait for funds to come back up as i am going to give it a service while i do the radiator. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

My mate has gave me a tin of black hammerite stuff so I can brush on. But if I go anywhere near that with a wire brush of some sort its going to end in tears, with out a welder at hand. my dad decided before hand to have a go while I wasn't there a few weeks ago on the passenger side, and I played holy hell for this exact reason.
As much as I wanted to give it a paint to day I will have to wait until the weekend, as time is getting shorter now on the evenings, plus I don't have the 306 on hand at the moment, to leave this at home for it to dry off. I can see why the TD5 got these bars on now, it really makes these better to drive. So yeah anyone with a 90 with out arbs that are using it as a dailly driver, this upgrade is a must Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

just a small little upgrade really, Nothing much but it makes a difference!
I have bought 5 genuine centre caps for the wheels, the ones that were supplied look cheep copies! So at some point i will have whip off the wheels next year to change those, ( while my dads away, cause he will damage the wheels known him) Anyway the spare wheel looked a little out of place with out a cap Click image to enlarge So it was the 1st to get the upgrade, Click image to enlarge so we are slowly rocking the class now Going to see what funds I have so that I can buy my replacement rad, and i think i will go for a alu rad cage and a new bonnet catch panel thing, that holds the brackets on too. Buy those from yrm metals and get those painted with decent fixings. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

after waiting for nearly a month, my mate is coming back to have another butcher with the welder. So tomorrow is going to be a good one, for sealing. Then its saving for XMAS now
I am toying with the idea of buying a a new rad cage etc and getting it painted at work. But its going to have to be done in stages by the looks of things. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

Well my mate, made a start on welding over the top of his current welding just to make things more stronger. Also it looks like my dads been at my rear cross member with a screw driver, when its been parked up. he will not leave all a be at times. When we looked to day its all gone through and it wasn't like that before. Also it was pretty solid too when we left it last time. So today we have had a look at it and plan out what to do. So we have to patch the cross member. But at least we are sorting things out now before I rust protect it and paint it. I will be fitting a rear bumper to it at some point next year. when I get the money back up. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

If we went at this with a shot blaster the chassis would vanish. When we came at it yesterday from what was a small hole, turned out to be a very large one. Nearly 30 cm! the rust patch you see in the photo of the rear end, was all cut out, as that that became a hole. as soon as a grinder went at it.
Took best part of the after noon to sort out, I have to dress the welds as we ran out of light and my mate was shattered. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |
