I would say that mpg friendly tyres are a must. They are even quite discreet with no white lettering. But then I might be biased

I have had this debate with my parents on the tyres, They have the all terrain tyres, But when I have looked at them they are rated pretty poor on the mpg wise. I do more miles than my parents too. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Who ever bought a Defender with MPG in mind I have realised the only way to get more miles between fillups is fit a bigger tank.
Enjoy her for what she is a noisy, small, fuel drinking agricultural tractor that has a special place in your heart and secretly you don’t want to change too much from how the experience should be. People strive to increase the MPG and you can do a lot to help gain a few but often the offset cost of these cost more than the fuel would have, one thing I did read once was when Land Rover fitted the spare to the rear door they had to up the power of the engine as it reduced the (sorry) “Aerodynamics” of the vehicle, I don’t know how much difference it made but I did seem to use less fuel on a long run with my spare mounted on the bonnet. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html 90 V8 - Maggie http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42564.html 110 TD5 - Buggsy http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic59029.html 52HG25 lightweight https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72342.html D3 Hse - Fiona Capri 2l S - Anna Think I might have a problem............ |

I do enjoy her, I am only just starting to get into the main stuff now. I recon it will be one of the biggest steps forward when I get these new tyres, Once these are on its another major tick in the box bar the brakes, steering and suspension. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Looks like I may need to replace the door hinges and window screen soon. As I had a massive pool in both floor pans yesterday sadly. So its either running off the roof and into the cab or through the front screen. was there a fix for the roof that some did from b&q? Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

On Saturday, I fitted another part that I had ordered a few months ago. A rocker cover gasket, as the on that I had on had seen better days, I should have really got one when we did the tappets.
