rear view camera
Hello

I need to install some kind of rear view camera to use when reversing and I found this https://pearlauto.com

It is only made for US plates but I am wondering if the frame could be modified to fit the square UK plate.

Does anybody know this product? It seems the perfect thing.

Wow, you want to pay 499 for a reversing camera? Jesus.

You can get a reasonable effective and neat looking setup for about £40! TD5 Defender 90

I don't know that one, but a bit of googling shows another possibility: modifying the numberplate light. Seems OK to me, though for that kind of money (far less actually, approx. £ 100) I bought a 2 camera and 7" screen kit of fleebay and installed the rear one above the door and front one in the bumper. Works very good for some years now...

Edit: and found this on here... Nice one! Cheers, Vincent

Smile That would be me...

Its been fitted for a while now and work in complete darkness, I have since changed to NAS style LED lights also and the picture at night is very good.

I still find it very useful for judging posts and other items which seem to be just at the wrong hight if your reversing to them.

Looking at my car now I've also re done my cross member which looks much better Smile

All in all for around £35 and some time its been a great mod.

A chap at work purchased one of these:

He fitted it to his RR and loves it.

If you have a Garmin sat nav certain models can be linked wirelessly to the Garmin BC 30 reversing camera. Might be an option to look at? I have my Garmin camera mounted on the top of my numberplate. 2015 HT XS 90

I fitted one of these rear view mirror/screens 2 weeks ago. Not sure how I managed without it!

How did you fix the Mirror in place, it comes with everything required? as needs to be fairly secure

Any pics of it installed & Camera position? Thumbs Up

Easy to instal. You can put a sleeve on the ball of the original arm if you like. I tried that first and it was solid as a rock, only downside is the wire then shows and give the scrotes something else to smash a window for.

Or you can use the stem and adapters it comes with. Simply remove the original mirror/arm and you can then use a self tapper to attach the adapter. The provided arm then clicks on and it's hollow so you can lead the wire into the headlining. You can't tell that it's not an original factory fit other than using the provided arm moves the position of the mirror up by about an inch.

Me and the motor in different countries right now but will take a pic for you at the weekend.

Image quality is ok, with a 480 line camera about the same standard as the factory fit job our 5yr old VW daily. Gives a surprisingly bright image.
Not the biggest of screens though, has to be said.
