Double Din everytime although not the easiest to fit & relocate all the switches plus heating up heater vents etc behind the unit to get it in was interesting.

Had an Apple play DD unit which I like using Thumbs Up 2020 P300 HSE

This is a fantastic unit especially if you can get all the extra modules like TV, DAB, REAR CAMERA, FRONT CAMERA, ETC, ETC.. As it moves out and Up it presents the screen at a more User Friendly Height which considering the new Laws that came in this month can only be a good thing!

I originally looked at the Double Din set up, but whilst you then get a greater selection of types/models available to you it reminded me of a setup I had with a Merc where I took my eyes of the road to look at the screen to figure out which exit on a complicated junction and crashed into the back of someone. Ever since this happened I have always been suspect of anything that encourages you to look down and focus. Refer to the scientific studies regarding looking at outside natural light to blue light(screen) in a dark background(centre dash).

The only drawback is that when it is out on Full Screen mode it means you do not have easy access to the switches behind.

Very much depends on what you really like on a personal basis.
1DIN flip out served me for years, however, I think they can be more fragile.
But the Clarion seems quite chunky and substantially built compared to some that are more flimsy.
There is the internal electronics side also.

1DIN is a far easier fit and considerably cheaper for the price and functions it has which represents good value.

Personally, right now I have a £40 JVC unit for now with iPod control which is surprisingly good for its cost as my original HU gave up the ghost.

I think the market will be going totally 2 DIN shortly, and I think that will likely be my direction at some point too.
The downside is the significant cost, mainly due to the dash. Chillin In The BackwoodsπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

As I suspected.

I'm leaning toward an apple CarPlay DD but it is a significant outlay.

This clarion looks like a good quality 1din comprise. But deep down I'd always hanker after the 2Din setup!
