Despite searching endlessly this does not appear to be “a thing”. To me the flow of air is seriously disrupted in the inlet having the egr pipe sat in there. To that end I have dug out an old inlet manifold and will use it to measure and make a plug. The ultimate EGR delete.

An MOT involves a visual inspection to see if an EGR is present.
So if you remove it and it’s absence is spotted during the MOT it will be a major fail . Therefore if removing, rather than blanking , you are more at risk of an MOT failure. MOT inspection manual states. 8.2.1.1. Exhaust emission control equipment You only need to check components that are visible and identifiable, such as catalytic converters, oxygen sensors, and exhaust gas recirculation valves. You should reject all vehicles first used on or after 1 September 2002, where original emissions control equipment components are missing, obviously modified or obviously defective. Vehicles used prior to 1 September 2002 should only be rejected, where a full catalyst test could apply. Use the flowcharts 1, 2 and 3 to decide which emission test is applicable for the vehicle being tested. Defect (a) Emission control equipment fitted by the manufacturer: missing, obviously modified or obviously defective Category = Major (b) An induction or exhaust leak that could affect emissions levels Category = Major |

Looks like a choice of three options then
1 do it an hope its not noticed 2 don’t do it 3 do it and be sneaky and put the egr pipe back with the end missing and a plug in place of the end |

.... or you could have a remap and have the unit tuned off which will comply with the rules and let more air in at various rev situations ..
This is probably not the option you were looking for but it would save you trying to get the ECU to accept the unit isn’t there along with the associated sensors which I believe was an issue with the 2.4 Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html Elgar -TDCI(Puma) 110XS Dormobile - now sold Devon & Cornwall 4x4 Response - DC126 |

It’s already mapped out blanked at both ends but there is a small leak from inlet manifold to egr as the gasses are pressurised by the uprated turbo through a big intercooler. Hence the desire to blank and seal it properly. It could be that the rubber o ring isn’t sitting properly but if I’m taking it out to seal I want to improve it as it’s a redundant bit of kit getting in the way of incoming air. Squeezing more out of this engine has become a bit of an obsession. I drove I big standard for 120k and the last 10k have been so much more fun and pleasant. It started when the supplier didn’t have a standard replacement turbo cartridge on the shelf when the oil pump ruined the turbo and engine. I fitted the uprated one they had and I was hooked.

I think option 3 will give you the best chance of passing the mot if you leave the deleted EGR and blanked EGR cooler in place. PS. Nice piece of fabrication. |

Driven today and pleased to report there is a difference. Not so much at lower rpm but when moving from 55ish to 70 in 6th. Pulling out to overtake a lorry is much easier. It picks up noticeably quicker.

The EGR is required for DPF regen to burn off the soot.
