I am rebuilding my transfer case at the moment. The high low selector hub has a groove in the gear, but I was not expecting to see one.
Any views on probable cause of the damage and whether it needs replacing? Feel a bit reluctant to button it all back up with something that is not 100%. Click image to enlarge Jim. |

Dave,
Thanks for the response - big relief that I don't have to wait on parts..... Is it present on all the LT230s or just on newer ones? I was looking at photos and videos of rebuilds and didn't see the marks, but they may have been hiding behind the collar. The rest of the box looks ok - apart from the remains of the nylon preload bearings from the differential assembly that were lying around and quite a bit of crud that seems to have got past the input shaft seal and was inside the input gear assembly. Jim. |
