Anyone here install electric underfloor heating?
If so, can i just have a bit of advice please.

I want to install into my en-suite, at the moment i've a chipboard floor, i have been told to put a plywood on top of this, is that correct?

And does the wood floor need an primer/paint seal?

Thank you

I used this a approx 5 years ago in my lounge with their insulation:

Not for bathrooms though.

This might be better in your en-suite?:

I think your advice is correct. You need to make sure your chipboard floor is well screwed to minimise movement. I would be tempted to use a specialist tile backer board like hardie backer or no more ply, rather than standard ply (I assume you will be tiling over it?). They have the benefit of being only 6mm thick too so are useful if floor height is an issue between different rooms. No prime required. Be careful if tiling directly on top of the wires as it is easy to damage them with a trowel...

Rather than ply use Thermal Tilebacker Boards. These fix to your current floor and will send the heat upwards (rather than into your floor) and also level your floor the same as ply.
Loads of different ones but example:- https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/BNFB...0wodpQ4Evw

I drive concrete mixers and have covered acres of underfloor heating systems and the professional layers use a product called Durament or Hyflo concrete. It is a by product from power stations sourced from Germany. Zero stone just sand durament and super plasticiser applied at almost treacle like consistency and self levelling. Use in flats, schools and offices and usually top end homes. It is a joy to see it turning a bare building into a finished floor. £250PCM approx. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..
