I know I could take the steering wheel off and count, but there must be a model cut off at some time. Cheers Don.

I don't think it is that simple, is it? I think it depends on model year, spec, and steering wheel style.

It has come up on here before, a search may reveal more.

There was a group buy that I had expressed interest in but missed out for some reason.
In the poll of the thread there is VIN number cut outs that may help.

If spending money on a new wheel I'd be counting the splines just to be sure before placing an order. Cheers,
Kyle.

It's has been one of the first bookmarked pages in my long list of Defender information sites. I remember finding it a couple years ago on one of those endless "defender google searches" Laughing

Do you have any more of these gems hidden around the internet? it's a Landrover thing...

Hold on, if you're saying that they're all 48 splines after 2008ish, then how come Startech has different steering wheels for 2007 to around 2011 and from 2012 onwards?

Just curious as I was about to buy a whole set of steering wheel, gear, transfer, and park brake lever before I saw the info as the vendor has a unit above 2011 while mine is a 2011.

I hope y'all can help clarify things.

Thanks!

Hi Martin,

I reckon that will be the way to go then. I was just hoping that someone that had already went through it could share. I guess I'd be the first...

Thanks!

It'd be interesting to know why they have a change point there, it doesn't match up with anything I know about (but I could be missing info)  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top
