Buy once, buy right.
As you 'need' one it means you should have time to add a bit more funds to the pot. Spend money, not waste it. |

I've seen a few cheap ones, it mainly comes down to the thickness you want to cut?
Cheap ones will be ok for panel work up to 2/3mm? I ended up with one from Parweld, not cheap but well worth it. Once you have one, you will have wished you brought one a long time ago! 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

Bought one around 6-7 years ago, for around that sort of money. Giant, I think it's branded. I only bought it to do a bit of messing around with and to do odd jobs and can whole heartedly say that it's never let me down, does exactly what it's supposed to do and can cut up to 6-8mm at a push. I'm not usually one for buying cheap Chinese things, but just recently the quality seems to have gotten a lot better, so long as it's branded. I say if your not making a living from using it and not using it very often, why spend £1500 or more on something that will do exactly the same thing for £200.
Your money, your choice however. Last edited by BuckBlu110 on 9th Nov 2016 10:27pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Factor in a compressor too.
We've got a Hypertherm 30A at work which we got second hand. I want to say that was £500. I think if I was buying one I'd go for a size bigger. If you look at the cost of consumables, if you actually get the claimed life out of them then it should cost a little bit less (not much) than cutting things with a cutting disc on a grinder. |

I too have looked at these and also the small 3D Printers...
At the prices they are its probably worth a try, if you get one and not happy you can always ebay it and probably get your money back... Let me know if you go for one and how it is. Anyone with one can they do a small engraving for me? (please) around 5cm by 5cm text? ---edit its not a plama cutter I'm after a laser engraver http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEJE-DIY-1000mW-...SwaB5Xp-qt |
