Which one?
After quite a lot of indecision, I've decided that the 90 pick up is going to have a heart transplant and a make over, the outcome being a v8 Heritage style soft top, with series door tops, exposed galv body cappings and wolf wheels. I want to keep it as simple and standard (as in, OE LR parts) as possible simply for ease of future maintenance. I'm not racing it, just pootling about and doing the odd day of shooting. I'd like the loadspace to house an MSS drawer under a teak deck. Which V8 should I source.

England 1990 Defender 90 V8 Petrol PU Auto Rioja Red
4 litre Thor is, IMV, the best LRV8, the best injection system, cross bolted bottom end and relatively bomb proof. Buy a P38 with an MOT and, if you're of a mind to, you can cover the cost by selling off the lights, ECUs, diffs and compressor from the P38 before weighing it in.

Similar with the 4.6 but they seem to be rarer and I don't think they are as reliable but I'm sure others will disagree Smile

It's a perfect engine for Megasquirt too as everything you need is already there, especially if you're going auto. Just needs wiring and an MS ECU with coil drivers. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/
