2009 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Indus Silver

My Indus silver 110 CSW

Now I've got the defender to somewhere I'm happy with, I thought I'd share a few pictures.

Before buying the defender I had a series 2 discovery which both me and the previous owner spent a small fortune on, however I stripped the car down in the end due to chassis rot and a few other things.

So, I didn't plan on buying this particular defender however it just sort of happened. That's a story for another time I guess.

This is how I bought it, pretty standard other than the drl bumper, RAI, led lights and one piece rear windows.

Chassis had never been coated, so was starting to show its age. As was the rear crossmember which didn't have much paint left on it! Still, it was a good base to start with.

First job on the list was to replace the oem side steps with tree sliders, as I'll be using this off road i didn't want to damage the steps and fold them up into the bottom of the car!

Nice and easy job, despite snapping a few of the bolts holding the sills on.

After this came the tyres. I took the 285/75/16's off the discovery and put them onto the boost wheels with some 30mm spacers.

However, due to still using the original spare wheel carrier I couldn't bolt the spare on, so a mantec/landrover spare wheel carrier was ordered from Dan @ Duckworths

A trip to twisted automotive for their open day saw me walking out with a set of these;

They totally transform the look of the car, before these went on I wasn't very happy with it. Too much silver I guess. These wheels have always been a favourite of mine so when the opportunity came up I couldn't turn them down!

The chassis was looking very sorry for itself, so I thought I best do something about that before winter sets in.
Crossmember got a coat of dinitrol rust converter (brilliant stuff) then buzz weld CIO, the chassis both internally and externally got the same dinitrol rust converter treatment as well as dinitrol 3125 and 4941 top coats.
Again this completely transformed the car for me, gone are the horrible large orange patches!

Used this as an excuse to upgrade the exhaust at the same time!

They're from http://www.rock-sliders.co.uk. Good quality overall, I opted for the high lift jacking points which added around £20 to the price. I'd recommend putting some black silicone around the jacking points to seal them up.

The powder coating seems ok however it's starting to crack where the sliders mount to the body of the car. They will probably end up getting galvanised at some point in the future

Ooh so where are the jacking points? Hi-lift or the LR tube style? Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

Unfortunately I don't have much more information sorry, I can get you a few pictures though.

Iirc the chap who I bought the car off mentioned the price for the Windows, and it wasn't cheap! Around £400 for the pair

Unless the FF ones are galvanised before powder coat I couldn't justify spending the extra money on them.

The Richmond ones fit well, as I say the only downside is that the coating has cracked underneath where the slider bolts to the chassis. I've gone over this with Dinitrol so hopefully it won't get any worse. If it does I'll be sending them for galvanising.

The jacking points are at either end of the sliders, they're the LR tubular style ones

I got a Mantec winch bumper via FF recently and opted to have it galvanised - the charge was £45.

Seriously considering these sliders now... Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

For those interested, Masai do them at £199 for clear glass, £249 tinted for the pair.
