Howling Moon 'Wizz 24' versus Oztent ?
I see Howling Moon have bought out a new 'Wizz 24' tent that looks remarkably like the Oztent but at half the price.

Has anyone any experience of the Wizz tent ? (Perhaps one of our overseas members) as I'm in the market for an Oztent but can't justify the expense

If that's the one that flat dog are selling then it's amazing. Couldn't believe the price tag when I had a look around it. It's much bigger than I thought it would be as well. Seemed to be made of good quality materials and plenty add ons like the floor and walls Thumbs Up

Just a comparative comment from an owner of an oztent...

I had a good look around the howling moon wiz 24 at a recent show and while i agree its phenomenal value for money vis a vis material quality for its price - it isn't quite as substantially made as my oz tent rv4. The internal frame is more lightly made in the wizz 24 and the polycotton is, i would estimate, 2/3rds or so thinner than that used by oztent.

I'd be confident the wizz would stand some regular use but it depends what premium you place on that last bit of hard to define quality i suppose. I like that the oztent feels bombproof.

In design terms it is otherwise looked to be almost an exact copy of the oztent rv even down to guy rope pockets...

Cheers

Thank you, that's useful too Thumbs Up

I've had several Oztents over the years, RV4 and RV5 and they are without doubt a quality item, just so damn expensive Evil or Very Mad

just to correct something above - i should have written the polycotton used by howling moon felt to be 2/3rds the thickness of that used by oztent - not 2/3rds thinner. oops.

Howling Moon state 260gsm Polyester Ripstop material

Oz tent rv1 states 8 OUNCE RIP-STOP POLY-COTTON CANVAS

Assuming Oz tent is per square yard then the conversion is 271.25 gsm equivalent, so the difference is really not that much 4.33%.

The only issue with that tent is the name, sounds like the camp latrine... Perfect to maintain ones modesty in the outback... Whistle

Akin to this

Well to answer my own question. There is no stock of the bigger tents in Europe apparently. The Oz market is having them all. Big Cry 110 D250 SE HT

For uk use I'd be sticking to Oztent IMHO, there's a 4 on here at the mo, it is however up for more than I paid for my 5 with identical kit. Ambitious I feel IMHO.
