Engine trouble
Hi guys new to the forum. I wish I was asking a less serious question but I've had some engine trouble this week. I'm waiting on the mechanic to confirm the damage but I'm fairly sure that I dropped a valve or two the other day and the engine might be toast. I know my options are either getting the engine rebuilt or sourcing a rebuilt engine that could just drop in. Has anyone been through this before what would the costs be like? Would appreciate some guidance on this one.

I use Ivor Searls for bare engines, I've recently replaced one in a 2.4 transit.
Bare block, simply bolt on your existing ancillarys, injectors, turbo etc.
They come with new fuel pump, and a timed up ready to run.

These come in at around £2500/ £3000 + vat depending on model.

£800 surcharge on old unit.


Some may be cheaper, but I would be weary of quality issues.
I just had a customer drop off a recon TD5 head for me to fit, and in all honesty it looks like it's just a second hand head off of a breaker!
I wouldn't say it's had any work done, other than a rubbish paint job, which just blew off with an air line!! 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered.

So the mechanic is fairly sure that the turbo was failing and managed to draw all the oil out of the sump and one thing led to another.

Is it a big job to fit the 2.2 puma engine into the car instead of the 2.4? Id imagine the ECU might need to be updated anything else?

Big job, ecu / ABS has to be changed different Ipac and wiring.

I looked at this and decieded to stick with 2,4 for ease of replacing my engine. "Rafiki" 2007 110 STW - Rolling rebuild.

Well the diagnosis seems a bit better. Not too much damage to the block and no valves having dropped into the engine. It seems the timing chain slipped. Is this common? He thinks the injectors and turbo might be ok. The only way of knowing would be to put it all back together and see. What do you guys think. Where would one source new injectors?
