Click image to enlargemg] It's about eleven years since the Spanish built PS10 was offered for sale here in the UK and ten years ago I very nearly bought a ten month old white pick up such as the one above. It had been part exchanged against a new Defender TD5 110 and traded on to one of the local independent dealers. I had a drive in it and it actually felt ok but I in the end I bought an ex United Utilities Defender 90 300Tdi. There were a few, not many though, around here and I spoke yesterday with one owner who still had his PS10 pick up after buying new. Mechanically it had been fine with just one clutch change in 80k miles but the rest of the story was far different. It tended to break front half shafts until an improved version came with the Iveco Hannibal. Springs had to be changed in the first year. There were two months MOT test left on it and he was not going to bother submitting it for another. Corrosion of the steel body had been something to behold and it was like a colander in places. The chassis at the rear was wafer thin too. It really looked a mess with floors like patched quilts. Spare parts were all but unobtainable after 2009 in the UK and any parts he did need were sent direct from Spain. I was quite impressed with the PS10 when first sold here but most owners I have spoken with since regretted buying. What were your opinions or experiences of the Santana PS10?[/img] |
