Spent the week before last in Dumfries and Galloway. Spectacular scenery and a great place for trundling around in a Defender. There's nothing quite like hustling a Defender along a twisty B road, with another amazing vista at every corner and every crest and not another car in sight. Was also extremely fortunate with the weather - clear blue skies and sunshine for pretty much the entire week. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing week and I would reccommend to anyone who is thinking of going.
If anyone is looking for somewhere to stay, this place was a real gem (no connection, just really enjoyed my weeks stay). I'll let the pictures do the talking . . . Your cottage was about 10 miles from my house.
It is indeed a lovely area, usually overlooked as people drive straight past on the motorway heading for the Highlands. |

A very beautiful part of the world.... nearly ruined by the midges. Memories of being swarmed one evening in the Galloway forest will haunt me forever. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS
