One way to stop this happening is to tell your mate to bin the golf for a nice defender
![]() This is one of many issues that a defender cannot suffer from. ![]() 2011MY 110 XS USW Black |

This is why I hate newer cars and turn signals on mirrors :
you will have to replace the whole Light assembly if a LED is damaged : ebay :http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VW-GOLF-JET...ccessories only the lens covers 1K0-949-101 LEFT 1K0-949-102 RIGHT : http://www.euroem.net/product/1k0949101-mi...-b6-passat Discovery 4 SDV6 Landmark F31 320dA Msport xDrive LR Defender 90SW TD4 Stornoway grey 320d E46 E70 X5 3.0d Sold! Alexke
thanks very much for the info. do you know if these simply clip off from the outside or if you have to take the mirror / motors etc to pieces or not? thanks. |

If it is anything like the VW van we had on hire a few months ago you are looking at the whole item...... One thing I couldn't believe about VW is that their mirrors don't have any give in them- clipped it whilst reversing at 0.5mph and the whole thing just fell off!! Then it was a full mirror assy not just mounting parts.

But then you could say Defender mirrors are a wee bit ermmm - Cro Magnon! Not even heated! Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion. |

I agree but even my 1995 had heated and electric adjust mirrors that when you clipped/ caught on something they would flex 45-90 degrees and then you just pull it back and off you go. Would you rather A. Non heated mirror that gives you bad visibility and needs wiping every hour.... be it that you have to spend 15 mins adjusting it back to what it used to be after someone has lent on it. or B. No wing mirror as someone lent against it and it fell off... not to mention the bill for a new mirror (£80+VAT+Colour coding) Glyn ![]() |
