Thanks picture Daniele, but that does not look so terribly bright to me. Hope other pictures will correct that observation.

Is your rear window clear or tinted? What colour lens did you buy?

Good to hear, looking forward to more pictures. Mine arrived from Germany to Belgium, it will be end of the month before someone will bring it back here so that I can install it then. My windows are the standard light green LR tinted glass, no film. The lens color is the crystal clear, look at the first post (page 1). Discovery 5 td6 HSE Stornoway Gray Outback Engineering Limited Edition ![]() IID Pro MV License |

I also have VGS tinted glass. MOT rules here state they are legal as long as 50% of the light shows. They mean here if it has 6 filaments/bulbs/LEDs and three are out it will pass, 4 it will not, there is no mention of luminescence or light loss through tinting. There is no mention of E markings or anything else. Should the light be electrically disconnected it is not a fail as they are not obligatory. If electrically connected it must operate as above or it is a fail. As for the rest of the EU I cannot comment but we all are aware I think how strict the German TUV rules are? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

High Level brake light, safety brake light, third brake light, use whatever description you like.
Now I have not got time or energy to trawl through EU regulation 48 however Hella have done a useful legal guide on vehicle lights here Page 17 on safety brake light
OK no specific mention of them being type approved/E marked in that Hella guide but IF obligatory under EU 48 then I would guess has to be E marked as Peter mentioned earlier. Also gives m. in and max light output. I do not know what date/amendment of the third brake light come into force. However if there is a factory fitted light I would assume it would have to work. MOT guidelines talks about additional stop light light. What is meant by additional? An aftermarket light fitted by the car owner or the third brake light factory fitted? As far as I am aware the Nakatanenga rear high level brake light is fully road legal as a replacement unit for the factory fitted 3rd brake light. Brendan |

^ I don't get that? looks like the brake light is flickering on and off almost faulty...? then comes on..
Is that the modification or am I missing something? If its meant to be like that I would not like to follow you at night on a twisty road... |

It's a mod. When you first brake it flashes to gain more attention to the vehicle(s) behind, then stays solid, even if you brake again within 10 secs.
With a BAS 170 AB remap you wouldn't be following for long. ![]() |
