Alloy - Steel rims
I have as new 235/85-16 tyres on alloy rims. I am considering going to steel rims when these tyres are ready for change. Main reason is for when we are on long overland trips.
Are there any problems in doing this, like stud length.

Quite a bit of discussion about it on the net.

While it's true they sit a little inside the nut (at least in my case) it is tapered and it remains also true that there is full thread engagement.

So FWIW, +1 to 'I run mine on standard'. Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

I put the military studs on mine as running Wolf wheels..

A complete waste of a lot of money!!!! Laughing

Standard is fine.

Just in case you weren't aware you need to fit the 235/85 to the wolf steel wheels (as previous posters are talking about) and not the narrower standard ones.

It has to be said quite a few people do put 235s on the 5.5" standard rims, but you shouldn't and it's against the tyre manufacturer's recommendations.
