 tell him to hold off selling for two years as I also need to get a new kitchen for my wife  didn,t realise you get them with such low mileage and so cheap. I would have definitely had that over the New XJR I bought for the same price 
Thanks for that mate, you have opened a possibility I didn,t realise could be possible. Need to sort house out first whilst also getting my SAAB 96 back on the road so maybe in a couple of years I could finally get a Harley having dreamt about owning a Road King since 1998 I could justify up to about 7k on one, I would be very interested in your friends, thanks for that, just to soon at the moment. Someone will get a nice buy... |

Here would have been one for you to drool over today perhaps? Heard it on local radio first. https://www.beaulieu.co.uk/events/volvo-sport-uk/ Jocklandjohn there is a Buell Thunderstorm I see frequently at the Summer bike meets along the south coast. It is in pristine condition and is obviously very well looked after with money lavished upon it. It is one of my favourite bikes that appears regularly. It is such a shame that Harley Davidson withdrew support and Buell had to shut up shop in 2009. Erik Buell who regained control of the company filed for bankruptcy April last year. This event was advertised on the SAAB forum but no one was interested, think the admission price was to steep for SAAB owners
 
Didn,t know Buell went bust! The Buell, and sports bikes in general don,t do anything for me... Too small also. It,s the knucklehead, bobbers etc that get my pulse racing.
Some of the Harley conversions coming out of Sledhead are gorgeous. check out the gallery http://www.sledheadcustomcycles.com You give them 14k, they get a donor Harley, weld a gooseneck on the chassis and creat something breathtaking! Aye they've been and gone I'm afraid. Real shame Erik Buell didn't manage to keep the show on the road. I'm happy with mine, and when I feel the need to wield the grinder on it who knows what it could be reincarnated as! |

Still dreaming of a Harley
 having done loads of research once again it always comes back to a Road King, the new Milwaukee 8 engine gets very good reviews. With pretty much everything else is a priority in life, kitchen, roof, mortgage etc I will start to put away a measly sum away each month and maybe in 5 years or so I may get a decent Harley if I sell my 9000 Aero also which just sits in the garage as an appreciating asset. I could get a cheaper Harley but having ridden the whole range the smaller ones don,t do it for me in looks or handling apart from the Slim but that lean angle is atrocious and I want a tourer. I have spent quite a few miles on a Road King and the thing is superb, the new engine doesn,t vibrate, has more power, Doesn,t get hot and it,s easy to put in neutral which the old model found tricky! Build quality on Harley is much better these days also apparently... I can wait another five years... still have my boat and the SAAB 96 to get back on the cheaply

All standard Harleys have a modest lean angle, the Road King is 32 degrees whilst the Fatboy 25, whilst mine comes in at 26. Line of the road is crucial. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Road Kings are great, the archetypal Harley. I've ridden a few too and if I was planning on another H-D that's the one I'd have. I find the big FL series easy to get on with and pretty easy to shunt round the garage with the low c-o-g. The last H-D I had was this '07 FLHT ElectraGlide, it shared space with the '06 R1200S. The Glide was sold in '09 and the R1200S was traded in for a R1200GS. I did 24,500 miles in 26 months on the 2 GS's I had, I could not keep my ass off the seat, superb all-rounders. As I mentioned above, I only have the scooter and the Suzuki in the garage at the mo but I do feel the need for another large bike and had a look at an XT660 the other day. They also say you're not a biker 'til you've had a Moto-Guzzi so maybe a nice little 750 Breva might be on the cards. Who knows?  |

Lean angle is only 24 on a Slim, I didn,t find it a problem but I am a plodder and i was mostly riding in a built up area, it,s a foot plate scraper though, is mentioned as a minus in most of the reviews. The guy from sled head I spoke to has put different tyres on his and it has raised it by 1.5" which helps him a lot apparently!
Lucky guy DavidT  These motor bike threads don,t help do they The other reason I like the big Harley's is that they are more noticeable from the front, all the lights help, something like 38% of accidents are caused by people not seeing you and pulling out!
Cannot believe you are selling your Defender Mal, only just noticed the advert Kinda hope it doesn't sell, you have put so much time and money into it, hope you keep it to get the value out of it. I can,t see a Sportster giving you the same long term interest but hope you can keep both
I,ll come for a ride once I have saved enough, IT WILL happen, it's the only thing I have ever wanted and not had, managed to achieve all my other toys. A new Harley will be the first toy I will lose money on though but it won,t be much and doubt I would sell it for years... |

I started riding at 8 off road and kept it up till at 16 I got a dt50 on the road as a means of getting to my apprentaship. At 17 I got a car and didn't ride on the road till 19 when I got my 1st big road bike. At 21 I was riding a full on 750 race replica like a moron and I don't know how I'm still here! fast forward a few yrs of which I didnt even own a car and did around 20k a yelr on big superbikes and a few years of racing on the track and I had a massive road accident in a 4x4 which was nearly the end of me. Shortly afterwards one friend was maimed in a road accident witha stolen car and is still in a bad way nearly a decade later, a few weeks later a biking buddy was killed. I was that scared I gave up road bikes and took to trackdays and motocross racing.
Eventually the cost got prohibitive and I sold up. But then I started missing my biking fix and my mate said he was selling my dream bike (05 zx10r) which I mentioned to the wife and bought. I still have it now 5 yrs later but I ride a lot more sedately and less frequently. I now only ride on roads I know really well down to where drains etc are and stay well within my limits. I've not done bad really. 30yrs of riding and no incidents with cars, not so much as slipped off in over 10 yrs either. 2014 - current ..... 2003 defender td5 90 (my car) 2009 - current .... 2005 zx10r |

It would rattle the fillings out of your teeth.
