2005 TD5 Radio Wiring Diagram
Ran a search and couldn't turn up what I wanted.

I'm wondering if there is a switched live for the radio as standard? I've an ISO adaptor to my new radio but no combination of yellow/red wires turns the radio off when ignition is turned off.

Got my voltmeter out and was only able to find a permanent live on the standard wiring plug for the radio.

Can anyone confirm the colour of the switched live wire or have a diagram?

Ignition switched 12V colour is white with green stripe throughout the loom.

However the radio is switched on/off by the key in Position 1 (AUX). The wire colour for this feed is white with orange stripe.

It's pin 5 in in the big black radio connector  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Had worked backwards from the radio and established the white/orange stripe was the switched live.

I get no reading from it at any ignition position

Any idea where this wire traces too? Or what might the problem?

Is fed from Fuse 17 (5A) on the bulkhead fuse box. The fuse is supplied by a white with orange stripe cable from the ignition key switch.

If your heater fan works then the link between the switch and the fuse box is OK, so check fuse 17 Smile  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Check fuse 17 which is for the radio only (fuse 16 is the fan).

Check the fuse is OK, and if it is OK then check for 12V at the fuse when the key is in AUX (position 1)  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Fuse was blown, and having double checked with a voltmeter I now have a switched live.

However I still need to plug both radio wires (red/yellow) into the y connector which supplies permanent live?

Not sure which is which (of the red and yellow - it will depend on your head unit) but you should have one to permanent 12V (purple with brown stripe) and one to the switched 12V (white with orange stripe).  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top
