Soft tops, seat belts and bulkheads
I'm sitting here with my hand in a bandage, unable to do anything constructive, so thought a bit of planning might relieve the boredom. Next spring I intend to convert my 90 to a soft top. I'm going for the sand canvas, white steel wheels, spare on bonnet, traditional look. I've never owned a soft top before though, so have some questions:

Firstly, seat belts. I obviously need to replicate the top mounting for the current belts and I've seen a few different ways of doing this. One involves an extra beefed up hoop just behind the standard one at the rear edge of the front doors and another is a separate low level bar that runs behind the seat backs. Are there any advantages to one or the other, or is there another way that I've missed?

Something that may influence the seat belt mounting is that I also want to remove the bulkhead from behind the seats. Again, there appears to be several ways to achieve this. The Mudstuff 'U' shaped bar that takes it down to seat box level and another tubular bar that seems to remove it right down to floor level. Don't know where they come from, at the moment. The Mudstuff approach is probably good enough for my needs, which is to get a bit more leg room, but I don't know if any or either of those solutions is compatible with the seat belt anchors already mentioned. Does anybody have experience of either on a soft top vehicle?

Finally, sourcing the hood and sticks. So far I've looked at Exmoor Trim and All Wheel Trim, with the latter being slightly cheaper for what appears to be essentially the same thing. Does anybody have experience of either? Any particular reason not to got for the All Wheel Trim option?

Thanks for looking. Darren

Thanks chaps.

Could you give me an idea of the price for the Purely Metals hood sticks?

Edi: not to worry - just discovered that they're selling on eBay. Looks to be the ideal solution too, as it doesn't interfere with the bulkhead. Darren
