Easiest and most cost effective way of de-catting a Td5 is to just get a pre-2002 down pipe, if you're worried about the MoT implications then drop the existing front pipe, slice it open and take the insides out, weld it back up refit and forget it

Mine is 2001 so that explains lack of cat. converter. Also has no sway bars, which is nice. Got my local exhaust shop to cut out the muffler and replace with straight pipe. Noticeably quicker spool-up. Nothing suggests poor workmanship like wrinkles in the duct tape.

Ours is the last of the line and was registered in Jan 2007. One of the first jobs after the EGR delete was replace the downpipe with a pre-2002 and fit a straight through stainless centre pipe. Rear box is std from P'docks.
Sounds good, much improved acceleration and parts don't cost the earth! 2006 TD5 90 County 1961 MF35 |
