Sorry about the pics, i’ll Rotate the next lot.
Engine out next week, the chassis needs a bit of welding. The chassis seems surprisingly good and will be treated with a good coat of protection when the welding is done. 2006 TD5110 station wagon 1995 300Tdi 90 truck cab 1989 90 hard top with 200 tdi 1983 110 hard top 1983 110 Hi cap 1954 107 pick up |

I plan on keeping the old bulkhead and one day I hope to repair it. I have a low mileage defender spec 200 on a pallet, with all the ancillaries. I am torn between leaving the 2.25 in and retaining originality, and fitting the 200 to make it hugely more usable. The 2.25 is grossly underpowered and the plan is to use the vehicle regularly. I think i’ll Remove the 2.25 and all of its ancillaries and keep them safely in the corner of the shed, so the conversion can be reversed in future if I regret it. The fact that Land Rover themselves offered the 200 as a retro fit conversion back in the 90’s makes it slightly more justifiable and the conversion will make a huge improvement in functionality and usability.
Everything else will be left standard. Skinny wheels and tyres look so right on it. 2006 TD5110 station wagon 1995 300Tdi 90 truck cab 1989 90 hard top with 200 tdi 1983 110 hard top 1983 110 Hi cap 1954 107 pick up |

I reckon you could guess what I would do, with a rare Y plate One Ten Hi-cap!
But it's your vehicle...... |

I wish I could argue with you - but even my Ninetys with the 2.3 petrol engine, accelerate like a slug on Dopamine. I have a very early One Ten Station Wagon waiting to be restored. It still has its original 2.3 petrol in it. Station Wagons are long and heavy, so I can see a rivet-counter crisis of conscience coming on. I'll probably keep the petrol engine but might not ever get out of 3rd gear! Look forward to watching the progress of your rebuild. |

Great you have got this project on the go and moving forward
I would be in 2 minds with what to do with the engine as i would like to keep the 2.25 in, the only thing i could suggest, is what about letting Turners do there magic on it Great progress so far 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper. Clayton. |

Engine removed tonight, I am now able to fully assess the state of play. Chassis is surprisingly good, apart from the front offside outrigger, as shown in the pic.

Started some welding on one of the outriggers over the weekend, that area needs to be painted now before the new bulkhead goes on.
