Boomslang installation
Hi everyone,

I've just taken delivery of a boomslang headlight loom, and wondered if i could get a bit of advice from those in the know. In the installation instructions it says to connect one of the wires to either the battery + or alternator. Now to me it seems it may be easier on the alternator due to access and not needing to feed it under the car and up into the seat box, but how do you connect to this wire? Could anyone provide an explanation of how they have done this or even some pictures would be great.

Many thanks,
Lew

Access may be different at a Td5 or Puma (mine is a 300Tdi), I just connected to the B+ terminal at the alternator (also this isn't Boomslang but similar):

Hi everyone,

So finally got round to having a go at installing the boomslang loom, was quite easy to install, a little bit of fiddling around but overall not too bad. I managed to get the live from the alternator as described in the post link above s thanks for that. Only issue I have is the passenger side headlight doesn't seem to be lighting up fully maybe someone could help me diagnose the issue. I thought I saw it light up fully for a moment when I first tested the lights but now remains on half lighting as you can see in the picture. Could it be the bulb? Maybe the earth on that side of the loom? Pictures below to illustrate the issue.

Does anyone know what the black unit on the back of the wipac quadoptic headlamp does?it has a flat black connection going into it? This unit seemed loose on the lamp which isn't lighting up properly in comparison to the good headlamp.

Ah ok, makes sense, thanks Vincent! Won't have an effect on the output then, I can dismiss that!

Same problem with mine, only on the drivers side. Worked fine for a few weeks and then I had both main and beam filaments half illuminated on one side. I reconnected the original headlamp connector on that side and now need to find the time to find the fault. Earth seems to be the likely consensus but I don't know yet!

It was indeed an earthing issue, switched the earthing point and all is well now. Great improvement on standard, much brighter, and atleast I have piece of mind in the knowledge that my switch should be alright going forward. Time to order some wipac crystals Thumbs Up
