P048 Recall - Front Axle Flange Bracket
Just received this recall, anyone else had it? Seems quite a serious one.

And (for CRC @ LR) can I have this done under warranty in France?

So Theres a problem with wheels falling off and their form of a solution is to attach the hub with an extra bracket to prevent full detachment... surely the fix should be a replacement axle... Neutral 2011 Defender DCPU 2.2 - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic30623.html

I must say, I love the British understatement:

"If the wheel hub assembly and the suspension collapse or detach from the vehicle, vehicle stability will be compromised and the degree of directional control compromised, this significantly increases the risk of an accident".

Mmm, complete collapse will only 'compromise' stability and control as opposed to entirely nullify them, and correspondingly it will only 'significantly increase' the risk of an accident as opposed to actually cause one...not that I'm casting any aspersions . Whistle Monsieur Le Grenadier

It's been around for more than two years, and has been discussed at length in this thread.

Thanks Blackwolf,

Not withstanding the delay it normally takes for my mother in law to send my UK mail over, why has it take two years for me to be notified? I'm assuming the previous owner wasn't? Given the serious nature, that's pretty poor of LR to allow a suspect vehcile to continue to drive for two years. Shocked Monsieur Le Grenadier

Mine was fixed a few years ago, I wonder why it's taken so long to get round to yours!

Just had the letter from our dealer last week!

They want us to book in our 2012 DC for the work, I did wonder why this had taken so long???

The parts manager said he would supply the brackets and fit it ourselves.
When I went to collect them, the service manager wouldn't let me take them, and was told to book it in with them.

I personally would rather let them sort it, so at least there is no comeback on us doing it ourselves! 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered.

Yes you can get it done at a French dealer, and it does not need to be under warranty. Mine was done in France about 18 months ago

Thanks Tribord, excellent news. The LR dealer has Jag attached, so I'll see if I can borrow one of their V8 F-Types while the work is done. Whistle Monsieur Le Grenadier

Good afternoon Grenadier,

Thank you for your post.

I can confirm that this recall can be completed via any retailer, providing they have the parts in stock.

I would kindly recommend that you liaise with your local Land Rover retailer to arrange a booking date in order for this action to be completed.

Many thanks,
Amellia

I've only just got this letter too.
I have to say I'm not exactly over the moon with the idea of a bracket to make the wheel fall off slightly less badly.
