I have a bad feeling I know the answer to this. bought a printer for the father in law to help him out - a HP 2035.
unfortunately I don't think it's suitable the idea was the printer would be connected to his router so he can print from anywhere in the house via his wireless connections / router, only I don't think you can with this printer as it's only got a parallel port and usb connections. Help. Can it be done? many thanks, |

Connect it to a PC and then share the printer. You should be able to connect to it wirelessly over the network.
Only problem is that the PC will need to be on while your printing. HP do a lot of wireless printers - for not a lot of money.... or you can add this wireless module... http://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-nfc-wireless-1200w-e5k46a-aba cheers simon |

many thanks,
no other computer in the house and printer already purchased / arrived today doing some research it looks like there might be a chance of connecting it to the router (if the router had a usb port - but it doesn't) - perhaps a different router would be a good option? o. that wireless device looks good. |

Hello
Normally you would need a Network printer to do this so the HP would be a HP2035n However this bit of kit may help http://www.lindy.co.uk/usb-firewire-c4/usb...AjjW8P8HAQ I used this to share a hard drive and access it from different PC's. looking at it though it will work how you want. I may even have one of these if I search.. look into it and see what you think. Click image to enlarge Other bits of kit will be cheaper this is a good make we use in AV installs in work |

Hi
It's not wifi enabled so it can't be used as a stand alone, however if you plug it into your home router it will work as a network printer. So not all bad, just read the speck. Good luck setting it up Monty-2015 2.2 110 XS Puma Station Wagon Yoda Disco 3-Sold Larry Disco 1-Sold Muddly XS 90 TDCI-Sold Pearl Disco 2-Sold Larry Disco 1-didn't want too but sold |

thanks guys - really appreciate the comments / offers however Panda's comments seem the most encouraging.
I'd like to connect it to the router - I'm not interested in it being stand alone. In an ideal world I'd like to wire it into the wireless router and print wirelessly from laptop via router but not exactly sure I can especially as the router doesn't appear to have a usb socket just 4 rj45 sockets? |

If you want a simple printer, this is about as cheap as you can get...

If its a HP you need the 'n' or Network version.
I doubt yours has a RG45 socket on the back? if it does yes plug that into your router. However the box of tricks I mention above turns it into a network printer. inkjets are cheap as they drink ink, Laserjet if all you need is B & W will be much cheaper to run. |

I'd like to stick with the current printer if possible.
yep it's NOT the 'N' version. Stacey I'll have a look into the kit / option you've indicated as I'm not sure what it is at the moment but looks like the way forward. thank you. |

^ Your printer with the box of tricks will work.
Plug the Printer USB to the box of tricks. Plug an RG45 lead from box of tricks to the router. Locate the printer from any device connected to your internet to print. Job done |

Hi Stacey,
I think you're right and believe it the best way forward all things considered. More than happy to buy yours if it's going spare or I'll order one up. Many thanks. |
