1984 Defender 110 300 Tdi CSW Portofino Red

Rapid EGR increase and Low rev smoke after playing with FIP.

Right peeps went and had a play with my 300Tdi yesterday. Took the FIP Pin out wound the star wheel fully CW ( 2 1/2 turns!!) and backed off 1/4 turn. Set the pin at MAX. Took it for a drive and EGT shot up farrrr too quickly so pulled the pin back a little. Also smoked a lot at pulling away so wound the stop screw back 1/4 turn and went for a drive. EGT still shot up but not as quick and still smoking but not as bad. Done this twice and gradually getting better.

Now the problem is I dont think backing off the stop screw any further will do owt as its almost level with the housing!! Also I recon to get the EGT rise less dramatic the pin will be back to where I started so guessing its already been played with.

If it makes much difference the plastic spacer is still fitted and can see the whitness mark from the pin in the FIP and its no where near the bottom of the boost pin.
