Thanks Shaggydog - The plates that I am talking about are the ones to the rear/inner side of the swivel hub - they keep the big round donut type oil seal in place. I'll take a piccy later of the offending items

Quite common to find that, several of mine have had two each side.
Some have gaskets, some don't. |
