[For Sale] Merlin Motors Safari Trailer | |
This is a rare original Douglas Motors (http://www.douglassmotors.co.uk/) off road Safari Trailer. It is built to the highest specification on a heavy galvanised chassis. As you can see from the photo's its already fitted with standard Land Rover defender wheels and tyres. It has adjustable lashing straps and hooks internally and features a cargo net in the lid. It has a solid lockable towbar/breaking subsystem from Knot GmbH (see picture).
This is not a nasty Chinese clone/variant with chocolate nuts and bolts, its the real thing.
The lid has three separate locks and as fitted with a rack. This was actually a prototype, but obviously can be replaced with something more attractive if needed. It does the job for me though so I didn't change it. It currently has the fitting for a Pendle bike carrier bars on the rear towbar mounting. I can supply the bars if required.
The trailer is rated to carry 1500KG so should be more than enough for even the toughest expedition. I have only used it for simple camping trips 4-5 times so its had no heavy usage.
Unfortunately Douglas Motors have stopped making these trailers because they were very expensive to produce. If you want to know more about them you can contact them and they should be able to tell you all about them.
I've added some pictures of the trailer in use during my current camping trip so its a bit muddy. I used to have a Defender and looked better hooked up to that. I will add some more pictures if needed when I return. [img]
Realistically, I'm looking for offers in the region of £3,500 - this is a serious bit of kit and can be resprayed in a colour to match the towing vehicle. [/img]

Yeah I need to add some better pictures. I haven't been able to do so yet. I'll try to get some better ones later. Its being used for camping at the moment so it will be a little dirty though.
