A good friend is looking to purchase the below Tdi 110 and has asked me what I thought it was worth. I unfortunately don't have a clue so I thought I'd put it over to the experts....
Current value? Any advice on what to look out for would be very much appreciated. All the information I have is below:- 1997 TDi 110, 123,380 miles, Extensive history with car including, Documented New Engine in 2012 (Approximately 20k) replacement chassis following Cat C. Its only a van and the Cat C will always work against it.
I'd be pay maximum of £3000 for it. Outside is ok, looks like it has had a respray which could be hiding a multitude of problems but you can tell from the interior it has had quite a hard life. Depends what your friend wants it for? I'd say it would be a good solid base to work from but use the Cat c as a bargaining chip. Hope that helps Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |

Sorry no offence intended Vans are usually much cheaper than Station wagons. And rightly so as they have fewer doors to rot out and windows to leak and seats to rebuild This is looking from a buyer's perspective, not a Sellers. If I was selling it i'd be asking £4500 but expect less Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |

I would decide on what budget you have / are willing to spend then have a good look around to see what's available within that price range which would give you a starting point on comparing

Have seen the history? It looks like it might be ex government agency or hire company. So wear on the mechanical components may be significant.
The values quoted elsewhere in the thread seem realistic. 1995 Defender 110 CSW 1971 SIIA Lightweight |

odd, has an air intake on both wings? prob fitted a 200tdi wing when it had its prang which must have been substantial to warrant a new chassis. looks well presented tho. It wont be able to go into the London LEZ , but then the owner may not want to anyway.

Buy a few Land Rover magazines and check out the prices they are selling at in them you might be surprised how much people ask.
Is the engine replacement a 300tdi and is it brand new or a second hand one, is it reconditioned ?? I have seen prices between £5,000 and £ 13,000 and even higher for a low mileage 90 in pristine condition. 110's are usually cheaper defender prices and 300 tdi's are going up because they are the last defender that you could maintain without electronic diagnosis. I have been watching prices for years as I have a 1998 300tdi Defender with only 37,000 miles on the clock and I keep changing my mind about selling or keeping it as it is almost corrosion free and still has the original exhaust !!!! New chassis , is it galvanised ?? Cat c write off all depends on rebuild quality What people are willing to pay is what that car is actually worth Regards Jonathan |
