i have a garmin nuvi and had the same issue re plug. i cut the plug off, took off the dash and wired it to the back of the lighter socket and ran the cable down behind so now there is no cable or plug to worry about.

I have a tomtom and bought and fitted the permanent wiring kit. Same as Mike, wired it to the cigarette lighter and fed the feed cable through the top of the dash. The thing to be careful off is the supply voltage to the satnav. The tomtom is 5v and has a built in voltage dropper in the cigarette lighter plug. The fitting kit for the tomtom also has this dropper. The Garmin GPS 276C unit I have is 12v and does not need a voltage dropper. Hope this helps

But cutting my satnav wire would void the 12 months warrenty. What I think i'll do is get some new fuses for the 4 in 1 adaptor. failing that a new adaptor. especailly seeing as fuses are about £2 and an adator £5

If the sat nav has a seperate power cable - i fail to see how that would void the warranty - however, if it did just buy another Mike

Well my point was just to buy another and cut the end off that - doesnt really do anything to your warranty and who's going to know. Secondly - you could always return it without the power cable if its faulty - to be hones the oikes at halfrauds only just know what a car is let alone what should be in the box for an exchange and if they noticed, take the cable out of the replacement and give it back as you "left it at home" Mike |

I follow what you mean It's just annoying how the Defender tdci socket is in that exact place as almost anything you put there interferes with the gears. Was the TD5 the same

with an angled 12v plug it's no problem it's the big plugs that stick out and cause it
